Abstract
Co-based non-precious metal oxide electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction were synthesized by co-precipitation and electro-deposition and used as anode electrodes in an AEMWE. Nano-sized catalysts with abundant oxygen vacancies, high surface area, controlled morphology, and electronic modification were developed. In half-cell tests they exhibited high activity and long-term stability. Although half-cell activity is often emphasized, full-cell performance is essential for commercialization; the AEMWE cell surpassed all prior reports, even with IrO2 anodes.
