Abstract
Nanohybrid assemblies enable the integration of multiple material functions into microscale fibers. Here, we report MXene fibers with high mechanical robustness and environmental stability prepared by assembling MXene with polyacrylonitrile (PAN). Unlike conventional PAN fibers that require air stabilization, the hybrid fibers are thermally annealed in an Ar atmosphere. This unique approach suggests MXene can serve as an oxygen provider that is essential for stabilizing PAN. As a result, significantly improved interfiber compactness is achieved and the oxidation stability of MXene is enhanced under atmospheric conditions. The thermally annealed MXene–PAN (T-MX-PAN) fibers maintain stable structural and electrical properties even under high humidity and elevated temperatures. When integrated into textiles, they generate sufficient heat for ice melting and rapid evaporation, demonstrating their potential as durable wearable heaters.
