Abstract
Si-based anodes offer high theoretical capacity but suffer from mechanical failure due to massive volume expansion during cycling. To address this, we developed a calcium-mediated "egg-box" cross-linking strategy for alginate binders using a facile spray method. This ionic network significantly enhances the resilience and electrolyte desolvation of the anode composite. Consequently, the Ca-alginate binder ensures superior cycling stability and capacity retention over 100 cycles, outperforming conventional binders like Na-alginate and PVDF. This approach provides a green and scalable solution for high-performance lithium-ion batteries.
