Abstract
This research explores the temperature dependent density inversion phenomenon observed in CNC-stabilized rosin amine pickering emulsion systems. While the Rosin Amine droplets exhibit a sedimentation pattern at room temperature due to their higher density relative to the aqueous phase, an increase in temperature triggers a transition to creaming behavior. This shift is attributed to the rapid decrease in oil density resulting from thermal expansion. The dynamic stability and phase-separation kinetics were characterized using Turbiscan Stability Index (TSI) and backscattering profiles. Despite the shift in buoyancy direction, the CNC interfacial layers maintained structural integrity, effectively suppressing coalescence. This study offers critical insights into the thermo-responsive behavior of particle-stabilized emulsions for smart material applications.
