Development of Mxene-Silica Composites for Electromagnetic Shielding

Abstract
MXene possesses outstanding characteristics as an electromagnetic wave control material, attributed to its high electrical conductivity and excellent surface dipole properties. The impedance mismatch stemming from this high conductivity leads to reflection-dominated EMI shielding behaviors, which meant that initial research primarily focused on shielding applications. Recently, however, active research is being conducted on its application as an absorbing material through compositing with various materials and structural engineering, utilizing MXene's abundant surface functional groups.
In this study, MXene composite structures were fabricated using silica particles, and their dispersion structure formation and EMI shielding properties were investigated under various conditions.
