Abstract
Prolonged air leakage (PAL) is a common complication after pulmonary surgery, requiring effective lung sealants. In this study, electrospun PHB/tannic acid (TA) ultrafine fibrous sheets were developed and surface-modified with Az-NHS via photo-immobilization to enhance tissue adhesion. TA improved fiber uniformity and hydrophilicity, while mechanical and burst pressure tests confirmed sufficient strength to withstand lung motion and coughing. Rheological analysis demonstrated strong tissue adhesion without additional adhesives. In vitro and in vivo studies confirmed excellent biocompatibility and accelerated wound healing within 14 days. These results suggest that PHB/TA/Az-NHS fibrous sheets are a promising bioadhesive lung sealant.
