Abstract

Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) often suffer from limited controllability due to filler agglomeration and symmetric device designs. In this work, we report a Janus-stacked triboelectric nanogenerator (JS-TENG) that combines a sandwich structure with functional asymmetry to realize direction-dependent energy harvesting. The device is fabricated using a flexible Ecoflex matrix incorporating lanthanum-based MOF-functionalized graphene oxide (LMG) and barium strontium titanate (BST) as distinct triboelectric layers separated by an internal aluminum electrode. LMG enhances interfacial polarization and charge trapping, while BST contributes high dielectric permittivity, enabling voltage-switchable outputs depending on the active side. The JS-TENG delivers peak outputs of 970 V and 23.2 μA from the LMG side and 788 V and 19.6 μA from the BST side, with a maximum power density of 4.32 W m².
