Abstract
n-Type conducting polymers have emerged as key materials for organic electronic devices, but their practical applications have been limited by insufficient electron stability and poor interfacial compatibility. The incorporation of polar side chains offers an effective strategy to enhance electron affinity, charge transport, and environmental stability in n-type polymers. These characteristics have expanded the application area for n-type conducting polymers, such as sensors, energy storage, and organic electrochemical devices.
In this presentation, iodine ions in aqueous solution effectively enhanced the electrical current of n-type conducting polymer thin films through strong charge-transfer interactions with the π-conjugated backbone. In addition, the incorporation of polar side chains promoted efficient ion transport and enhanced interfacial contact between the polymer and the electrolyte, resulting in fast charge–discharge behavior.
