Abstract

In this study, aqueous cosmetic capsules with acidic lumen and an ultrathin polymeric shell were developed to improve active delivery while maintaining a pleasant sensory feel. Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) was used as the shell material for rapid dissolution and high transparency, minimizing tactile residue on skin. The lumen pH was precisely adjusted to 4.0 with citric acid to stabilize and enhance the efficacy of encapsulated polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN). Glycerol served as a humectant and sodium metaphosphate (SMP) as a preservative. To examine the influence of osmotic pressure on capsule integrity and release behavior, osmolarity was tuned by adding sodium chloride (NaCl). Colorimetric analysis using blue dye and pH indicators verified successful encapsulation and sustained acidity of the lumen. The combined design of an ultrathin PVA shell and a controlled acidic core provides a robust platform for high-performance cosmetic formulations.
