Abstract
Accurate measurement of thermal conductivity is essential for polymer-based thermal management materials. In this study, five liquid crystalline epoxy resins including imine based, azine based, ketone based, double imine based, and acetylene-based systems were synthesized and evaluated using the transient plane source method. Liquid crystalline behavior was confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry and polarized optical microscopy. To improve measurement reliability, curing conditions were optimized by correlating curing behavior with the liquid crystalline temperature range of each epoxy. Thermal conductivity was determined from the stabilized region of the TPS residual curve, minimizing artifacts from curing and phase transitions. This work demonstrates an effective approach for reliable thermal conductivity measurement in liquid crystalline epoxy systems.
