Abstract
Aerogel supports improve MOF dispersion and alleviate mass transfer limitations. However, most MOF@support rely on physical adhesion, leading to MOF detachment and activity loss. Here, I enhance interfacial bonding by tuning the –OH content of the aerogel to form chemical linkages. This chemical anchoring suppresses structural degradation and catalyst leaching upon recycling while maintaining active site accessibility and mass transfer.
Consequently, catalytic performance increases with –OH group. However, an excessive OH content can overly densify the aerogel network, hindering diffusion and reducing accessible active sites during cycling. Therefore, the VMDMS-co-VTMS aerogel catalyst, with an optimally balanced –OH content, offers the best balance of activity and recyclability. This study demonstrates tuning the –OH content can enhance durability, highlighting the potential for industrial application as a highly durable, reusable catalyst.
