Abstract

Targeted tumor treatment can effectively eliminate tumor cells while preserving healthy tissue. Integrin αvβ3, which is often overexpressed in tumor cells, presents a promising target for selective tumor treatment. This study aims to present specific photothermal tumor treatment using RGD peptide surface-modified nanoparticles incorporating integrin αvβ3 for targeted tumor therapy. The two-dimensional Ti3C2 MXene has been recognized for its exceptional photothermal properties and biocompatibility. To achieve cell-specific tumor treatment, RGD peptides binding to integrin αvβ3 on the MXene surface were synthesized. Evaluation of the targeting ability, comparing tumor cells and normal cells, demonstrated excellent tumor-targeting and killing capabilities. The photothermal therapy (PTT) using MXene is anticipated to further the advancement of tumor treatment, and various potential applications are suggested through the surface modification of MXene.
