Abstract
In this study, a new D-A-A-D polymer donor (DAAD-OMe) was synthesized. DAAD-OMe showed a film absorption peak at 559 nm and an optical band gap of 1.75 eV. The complementary absorption and energy offsets were observed between D18-Cl, DAAD-OMe, and the L8-BO acceptor. Furthermore, the ternary blend using DAAD-OMe was phosphor-sensitized with Py_Pt-2 dopant at 1 wt%, which enhances the PCEs of OSCs active layer processed via dual solvent. The ternary device obtains a PCE of 18.2% (Voc=0.91 V, Jsc=27.3 mA/cm², FF=75.5%), compared to 16.9% undoped, suggesting an improvement of 7.7%. Py_Pt-2 with λmax = 496 nm, HOMO/LUMO = -5.36/-2.72 eV, and energy alignment for triplet energy transfer and charge generation. Py_Pt-2 absorption complements the host blend, while the dopant suppresses non-radiative recombination, increasing Voc and FF. The results emphasize DAAD-OMe can be a powerful donor and PyPt-2 complex can be a potential phosphosensitizer for high-efficiency OSCs.
