Abstract
Typical Chitosan/MXene (CS/MX) aerogels suffer from reflection-dominant EMI shielding, causing secondary electromagnetic pollution. This study introduces a facile strategy to transition this mechanism toward absorption-dominance by impregnating the aerogel with transition metal ions (Co2+, Ni2+, Fe3+). The metal ions serve as bridges between MXene and chitosan, enhancing the structural hierarchy and introducing magnetic loss properties. Results show that the metal-impregnated composites achieve superior shielding effectiveness (SE) with significantly improved impedance matching compared to pristine CS/MX aerogels. This approach provides a sustainable route for developing high-performance, lightweight, and absorption-based EMI shielding materials.
