Abstract
This research employs the Wet Capillary Thinning (WCT) method within a microfluidic environment to characterize the extensional viscosity of blood and other materials. Compared to conventional techniques such as cone-and-plate or standard capillary rheometry, the WCT approach enables precise extensional viscosity measurements while requiring a substantially reduced sample volume. This system facilitates the analysis of low-viscosity solutions and effectively mitigates environmental interference, such as evaporation, by confining the process within microchannels. Given that blood extensional viscosity serves as a critical biomarker, this method offers a more resource-efficient and safer alternative to traditional measurement tools. Furthermore, its versatility allows for the comprehensive observation of flow behaviors and dispersion stability across diverse fluid systems.
