Abstract
Hair is prone to damage caused by repetitive mechanical stresses such as friction and physical stimulation in daily life. This study aims to develop a non-invasive and physically protective hair coating system based on casein to improve hair durability.
The coating formulation was prepared using casein, a naturally derived milk protein with tannic acid incorporated to enhance coating stability through crosslinking. Rheological measurements were conducted to evaluate the formulation behavior of the coating solutions. The chemical structures of the coating were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The surface morphology of the coating on hair were examined by scanning electron microscopy, and the mechanical properties were evaluated using a Universal Testing Machine.
This research demonstrates the development of a physical and environmentally friendly hair coating system based on natural materials, highlighting its potential for sustainable hair care applications
