High-Sensitivity Directional TENG Based on Unidirectionally Freeze-Cast Microchannel-Structured PVDF/SC20 Foam

Abstract

In this study, we fabricate an anisotropic PVDF/SC20 composite foam with directionally aligned microchannels using unidirectional freeze casting. We subsequently demonstrate its application as a TENG. The resulting anisotropic foam-based TENG exhibits a pronounced directional response and delivers approximately 2.5 times higher sensitivity when loaded perpendicular to the aligned microchannels than in the orthogonal direction. Even at a low filler loading of 2 wt%, the anisotropic architecture enables efficient charge transport pathways, leading to meaningful electrical output under low-filler conditions.
