Abstract
Absorption-dominant electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding is pursued to reduce secondary pollution from reflection-dominated metal shields. Here, NiCo-C magnetic particles were synthesized from ZIF-67 via a NiCo-layered double hydroxide (NiCo-LDH) intermediate and annealing under Ar. XRD confirmed formation of face-centered cubic NiCo alloy nanoparticles in a carbon matrix, and Raman showed carbonization (D and G bands). SEM revealed a transition from rhombic dodecahedral ZIF-67 to nanosheet-covered NiCo-LDH and finally porous NiCo-C with finely dispersed nanoparticles. NiCo-C was incorporated into PVDF, and EMI shielding was evaluated in the X-band using S-parameters. The porous structure and abundant metal–carbon interfaces provide magnetic loss centers and conductive pathways, enabling absorption-oriented EMI shielding.
