Abstract
Agricultural mulching films play a vital role in promoting crop growth and suppressing weeds, and they must decompose quickly after use to minimize their environmental impact. This study aims to develop technology that can improve the physical properties and control the biodegradability of biodegradable mulching films. To achieve this, a mixture of PBAT and various bio-based materials (lignin, surface-modified lignin, cellulose nanofibers) was used to enhance the physical properties of the films and strengthen their biodegradability.
In this study, an optimal compound for biodegradable mulching films was developed by mixing PBAT-based biodegradable resins with various bio-based materials. The main experiments involved improving the physical properties of the films by using mixtures of PBAT with lignin, surface-modified lignin, cellulose, and cellulose nanofibers (CNF). Furthermore, to evaluate the physical properties of the mulching films, various processing conditions and additives were tested, and the processability and biodegradability of the compounds were measured.
