Abstract
This study investigates the performance of gas sensors for detecting volatile organic compounds (VOCs) through breakthrough experiments. A filter-type structure incorporating a porous adsorption layer was used to evaluate the sensing characteristics and the repeated performance changes of the gas sensor, considering gas–surface interactions. Resistance changes over time and breakthrough curves were analyzed under repeated gas exposure and recovery cycles to define the sensor's stability and lifetime characteristics. This research presents a method to quantitatively assess the performance and stability of adsorption materials based on the breakthrough behavior of gas sensors and suggests research directions for the development of high-performance gas sensors.
