Abstract

Quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) have attracted significant attention owing to their excellent optoelectronic properties, including facile wavelength tunability, high efficiency and color purity. In hybrid QLED architectures, ZnMgO nanoparticles (NPs) are commonly adopted as the electron transport layers (ETLs), as a counterpart to the organic hole transport layers (HTLs). External quantum efficiency and operational stability, which are consequences of charge balance, are mainly determined by the characteristics of ZnMgO NPs such as size, surface passivation, and chemical composition. Herein, by passivating ZnMgO NPs with acrylate-based surface ligands, we achieved chemically robust, cross-linkable ETLs. The QLEDs employing our ZnMgO NPs exhibit improved chemical stability against atmospheric and acidic environments, which are the culprit of positive and negative aging effects. We believe that our approach contributes to the development of stable and efficient QLEDs.
