Abstract
In this study, a carbon nanofiber-SiO2 composite was fabricated using a silane-assisted SiO2 agglomeration control technique. Firstly, silane-treated SiO2 nanoparticle was incorporated at a content of 20 wt% into PAN-based nanofiber via electrospinning, followed by carbonization to obtain a carbon nanofiber-SiO2 composite with a homogeneous SiO2 distribution in high loading condition. The silane treatment effectively inhibited SiO2 agglomeration within the carbon nanofiber, resulting in a structurally stabilized composite. For the practical application, incorporated carbon nanofiber-SiO2 composite have successfully enhanced the thermal conductivity and mechanical property of EMC. These results indicate that SiO2 agglomeration–controlled carbon nanofiber-SiO2 composites can be a promising EMC additive candidate.
