Abstract
In this study, a zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF-67) is employed as a single precursor to fabricate both cathode and anode materials for asymmetric supercapacitors (ASCs) via electrospinning. Cobalt chloride and polyacrylonitrile are electrospun, followed by in-situ formation of ZIF-67 within the nanofiber matrix. Heat treatment in air yields Co3O4-embedded nanofibers (Co3O4@NFs) as the cathode, while stabilization, carbonization, and HF etching produce porous carbon nanofibers (pCNFs) as the anode. The ASC device assembled using Co3O4@NFs and pCNFs exhibits a high specific capacitance of 107.5 F g−1 at 1.0 A g−1, inducing faradaic redox reactions of Co3O4 and electric double-layer capacitance of the porous carbon framework. This work presents an efficient strategy to derive both electrodes from a single MOF precursor for high-performance ASCs.
