Bioresorbable, biodegradable and biocompatible polymers

Abstract

Biocompatible polymers such as PLGA and PGA are widely used in the medical field because they offer excellent chemical compatibility and their degradation products are stable and safe in the body. However, these polymers are typically produced through specialized, low-throughput processes, which limit productivity and results in high material costs, so they are often used more in research and high-value medical applications than in true mass-production contexts.​ To overcome these limitations and enable mass production of such biocompatible polymers, reactive polymerization technology can be used to synthesize a variety of bioabsorbable, biodegradable, and biocompatible materials with improved process efficiency and scalability. In this study, we introduce INNOSORB, a biodegradable material, and INNOSELF, a biocompatible shape memory material.
