Abstract

The expansion and premiumization of automotive interiors have increased demand for lighting systems applicable to complex curved structures. Existing lighting manufacturing processes have inherent limitations owing to injection molding, mechanical assembly, and ultrasonic bonding. To address these limitations, reliable stretchability, strong adhesion, patterning processability is essential for complex curved lighting systems of automotive interiors. In this study, we propose the highly conductive, shape-morphable flexible electrodes for the development of complex curved lighting systems. We employed highly conductive Ag composites prepared by dispersing Ag flakes and liquid metal particles in an epoxy resin. By optimizing the concentration of Ag flakes and liquid metal particles in conductive composites, we achieved a high electrical conductivity. Furthermore, the minimum changes in the electrical properties of flexible electrodes were obtained under mechanical deformations.
