Abstract
Thermosets deliver outstanding performance however, their permanent crosslinks make post-consumed recycling challenging. Herein, we developed a fully recyclable coordination adaptable network (CooAN) constructed from vicinal diol-functionalized cyclohexene polymers with reversible Fe(III) crosslinking. The vicinal diol motif is essential to achieve stable network formation, while the low ring-strain energy of the cyclohexene-derived backbone enables efficient depolymerization, in contrast to cyclooctene analogues. Consequently, the material exhibits mechanical reprocessing via metal–ligand exchange, chemical decrosslinking, and complete monomer recovery through ring-closing metathesis depolymerization. This study highlights a closed-loop strategy for multifunctional thermosets by tuning ring strain energy and dynamic metal coordination.
