Abstract
Metal structures such as steel manhole covers and gratings become slippery under rainy conditions, increasing the risk of slip-and-fall accidents. To address this issue, anti-slip coatings with strong adhesion to steel substrates and rapid on-site applicability are required.
In this study, a UV-curable anti-slip coating system was developed using an acrylate-based resin with a photoinitiator, and alumina particles were added to provide anti-slip performance. To improve adhesion to steel substrates, the acrylate formulation was optimized, and the effects of silane coupling agents and additives were investigated. By separating the coating into a bottom adhesion layer and a top anti-slip layer, enhanced adhesion to steel substrates was achieved. The developed coating system shows potential for preventing slip-related accidents on steel structures and for application in various industrial fields.
