Abstract

In this work, we propose a low-permittivity hydrogel(LPH) dressing patch that focuses self-generated electrical energy from daily life on the targeted skin continuously for diabetic wounds healing. To maximize the electric-field intensity at the targeted area, the design of hydrogel focuses on minimizing dielectric losses in water-rich patches by lowering their effective permittivity. The outer shell is a perfluorodecalin (PFD) emulsion hydrogel that markedly lowers the effective permittivity and induces electric-field focusing via electric-field distortion. The inner core serves as a drug reservoir that strongly retains ionic anti-inflammatory drugs and selectively enhances their transport by electric-field on/off switching while minimizing passive leakage at baseline. This sustained-release dual-hydrogel platform is expected to provide enhanced therapeutic efficacy for diabetic wounds by enabling long-term inflammatory control under self-powered electrical stimulation.
