Abstract
This study reports the development of encryptable electrochromic (EC) smart windows utilizing newly synthesized tetrathiafulvalene (TF)-based reactive mesogens. By applying a simple coating and self-assembly process produced uniaxially oriented hierarchical nanostructures on the macroscopic areas. The resulting TF mixture (TFM) enables reversible modulation of absorption wavelengths via redox reactions of the TF core under applied voltage. Furthermore, the hierarchical nanostructure, aligned along the shear direction (SD), imparts significant optical anisotropy, allowing for polarization-dependent transmittance. Multifunctional light control is achieved through electrochemical switching and angular modulation of the polarizing axis. This capability suggests that TFM is a promising platform for advanced electrochromic devices for information encryption and optical security.
