Eco-Friendly Fluorinated Materials and Detection/Removal of Fluorinated Substances

Abstract

Fluorinated materials are essential in high-performance applications due to their thermal resistance, chemical stability, and low surface energy. Yet, increasing environmental regulations demand sustainable alternatives to conventional PFAS. We introduce an eco-friendly electrochemical fluorination route that yields high-performance, low-impact fluorinated compounds meeting PFAS exemption or low-GWP criteria. In parallel, we present an ultra-sensitive electrochemical sensor for PFAS detection and a photocatalytic PFAS degradation approach, offering an integrated pathway from sustainable material design to pollutant monitoring and remediation.
