Abstract

Collective motion in living organisms has inspired artificial swarming systems for biomedical applications. Enzyme-driven micro/nanobots are attractive due to their ability to autonomously generate chemical signals, yet interactions between distinct swarms remain largely unexplored. Here, we present a dual-swarm enzymatic nanobot platform enabling chemical communication between glucose oxidase– and catalase-based nanobots for the treatment of inflammatory intestinal disorders. Their collective behavior was investigated in microfluidic environments and evaluated in vivo via intrarectal administration in a murine model of intestinal inflammation. The nanobot swarms migrated along the colonic lumen, showed prolonged retention at inflamed sites, and significantly restored tissue integrity with reduced proinflammatory cytokine expression. These results demonstrate the therapeutic potential of chemically communicating nanobot swarms for inflammatory intestinal diseases.
