Abstract
Capacitor components require materials with high thermal resistance and minimal dimensional shrinkage for reliable long-term operation. Poly(phenylene sulfide) (PPS) is a high-performance engineering polymer with excellent stiffness, chemical stability, and electrical insulation, and its properties are further enhanced by high glass fiber (GF) loading. However, the crystallization and mechanical behavior of PPS/GF composites are highly sensitive to cooling conditions during processing. Here, PPS/GF composites were fabricated by injection molding at different mold temperatures to clarify their crystalline and mechanical properties. Elevated mold temperatures promoted crystal growth and increased crystallinity, leading to improved tensile, flexural, and impact properties. These results provide guidance for optimizing processing conditions to enhance the performance of PPS/GF composites for capacitor housing applications.
