Abstract

Metal–organic framework-derived metal or metal oxide–carbon heterostructures have emerged as promising materials for absorbing electromagnetic waves due to their tunable composition and structural versatility. In this work, a 1D bimetallic ironnickel (Fe₂Ni) hollow phosphide/carbon heterostructure was fabricated via a self-templated carbonization and phosphorization route from a MOF precursor. The FeNi phosphide/carbon heterostructure exhibited magnetic behavior and suitable graphitization, resulting in excellent EMW absorption from S to Ku band. A maximum reflection loss of was achieved with a low thickness with an effective absorption bandwidth, outperforming non-phosphorized and monometallic Ni MOF. The enhanced performance is attributed to the hollow heterostructure and its carbon–phosphide interfaces, highlighting the potential of FeNi-based hollow heterostructures for EMW absorption applications.
