Designing Functionalized Sustainable Process oil for High Performance Tire Tread Rubber

Abstract
The ideal process oil for a sustainable tire is a bio-based oil that can replace petroleum-based oils without compromising tire performance. In an effort to improve the environmental footprint and performance of tires at the same time, a variety of strategies were developed and applied in a model tire tread compound. However, the limitation of simple molecular structure of natural oil, which includes glycerol based aliphatic structure, suffers from maximizing the performance of tire tread compound. Herein, we designed a new high performance bio processing oil by analyzing the role of incorporated functional groups, which could effect to performance of rubber composites, based on working mechanism in rubber compounding process.
