To expand the library of poly(ionic liquid)s (PILs), new ionic liquid monomers are necessary. In this study, a pyrrolidinium monomer bearing a NH₂ functionality at both termini was synthesized in four steps, which include a protection-deprotection technique. And then new PILs ionic poly(thiourea)s were prepared using thiodiimidazole and 4,4’-dithiodianiline with different molar ratios. The composition ratios of the pyrrolidinium monomer and co-monomers in the polymers were confirmed by ¹H NMR analysis. The polymer with a pyrrolidinium monomer to co-monomer ratio of 7:3 exhibited the lowest glass transition temperature (28 °C) and a showed self-healable property at 80 °C for 2 hours. For electrolyte applications, lithium salt was incorporated into the polymer, and its ionic conductivity was measured. The polymer electrolyte showed an ionic conductivity of 5.49 × 10 mS/cm at 60 °C.
