​Mechanical deformability in next-generation batteries is vital for realizing wearable electronics and ensuring stability against volume fluctuations. This presentation introduces strategies achieving this via structural frameworks and intrinsic polymer design.
​First, regarding structural stretchability, we introduce a resilient MXene-CNT nano-accordion framework for anode-free sodium batteries that effectively accommodates severe volume expansion during cycling.
​Second, we focus on intrinsically stretchable, printable systems using functionalized organogels as stretchable binders. Significantly, we report all-material crosslinked solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) for lithium metal batteries. Unlike liquid counterparts, these SPEs feature a robust crosslinked polymer network that suppresses dendrite growth and enhances safety without compromising flexibility. This approach enables high-performance batteries that remain stable even under dynamic wearing and stretching.
