Peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) is a type of cancer which metastasizes to other organs by spreading in the peritoneum.Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is used by generating reactive oxygen species (ROS) to eliminate tumors efficiently. PDT method using photosensitizers has recently developed into a form of conjugation with a tumor targeting molecule. We designed a novel derivative of ‘tracer drug conjugate’ (TDC) as a theragnosis imaging agent of PC. TDC had no toxicity in vitro and in vivo study in addition to histological aspect. Also, it demonstrated high targeting efficacy and was readily detected by long-wavelength fluorescence signals. TDC showed the higher tumor-specific drug delivery efficiency and photodynamic efficacy in targeted tumor cells as compared to free chlorin e6. Our results suggest the potential of TDC as a next generation theragnostic agent for PC.
