We fabricated a high-efficiency inverted OLED designed for non-contact touchscreen applications enabled by OLED–OPD vertical integration. Inverted OLED architectures typically suffer from a high turn-on voltage and a lower external quantum efficiency (EQE) than conventional (normal) structures. To improve device performance, we implemented (i) energy-level alignment across the stack, (ii) thickness optimization of the charge-transport layers, and (iii) suppression of leakage current via TPU patterning. With these strategies, the EQE of the inverted device was improved by a factor of three compared to our baseline inverted structure, while the turn-on voltage was reduced to a level comparable to that of a conventional device.
