내용
To address the poor interfacial adhesion in Wood Plastic Composites (WPC), we propose a novel 3-step process using m-TMI as a dual-functional grafting agent. This method involves grafting m-TMI onto polypropylene (PP) to introduce reactive isocyanate groups, preparing a high-content pulp masterbatch for optimal wetting, and final compounding under high shear. This approach facilitates strong urethane linkages between the hydrophobic PP and hydrophilic pulp. Consequently, the composite achieved a tensile strength of 31.24 MPa and a remarkable elongation of 40.79%, significantly outperforming conventional methods. FE-SEM analysis confirmed a gap free interface, demonstrating that this technique successfully overcomes the trade-off between strength and ductility in WPC.
