While research on blending multiple bioplastics to overcome their inherent performance limitations is ongoing, weak interfacial adhesion between the components remains a significant bottleneck. To address these issues, this study proposes a strategy to enhance the interfacial adhesion within biodegradable polylactic acid (PLA)/polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) blends by incorporating compatibilizer. Although PLA exhibits superior stiffness among bioplastics, its application is often hindered by slow biodegradation. In this work, these drawbacks were mitigated by blending PLA with PHA, and high-performance films were fabricated using Joncryl as a reactive agent to strengthen interfacial bonding. Our findings demonstrate that interfacial adhesion plays a critical role in synergistically enhancing both the mechanical and thermal properties. This approach provides a novel pathway for improving interactions between various polymers in sustainable material design.
