Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) have made significant advancements due to the growing focus on eco-friendly and inherently safe energy storage options. Despite this progress, the formation of zinc (Zn) dendrites remains a major issue, causing rapid capacity loss, low Coulombic efficiency (CE), and internal short circuits. In this study, we introduce three-dimensional (3D) channeled-porous carbon particles decorated with cobalt nanoparticles (CPC-Co) as a highly reversible Zn host to overcome these issues. The zincophilic Co nanoparticles effectively lower the nucleation overpotential, leading to more uniform Zn deposition, while the 3D channeled-porous carbon structure accommodates volume changes during Zn plating/stripping. Consequently, a full cell using the Zn@CPC-Co anode and V2O5 cathode exhibits excellent cycling stability over 6,000 cycles at 1 A g−1.
