Soft food contact surfaces, such as cotton fabrics used in worker garments, wipes, and reusable cloths, are indispensable in food processing and agricultural operations. However, their inherent hydrophilicity and porous structure facilitate the adsorption and retention of complex biological fluids, posing a significant risk of cross-contamination. To address this, we present a facile and scalable method for fabricating high-performance antifouling cotton fabrics via a one-pot air-spray deposition of super-repellent nano silica (SRNS). Physicochemical characterization confirmed the successful surface modification, resulting in superhydrophobic cotton fabrics. The SRNS-coated cotton fabric markedly reduced the adhesion of microbiological and biological contaminants by modulating biointerface interactions through surface energy tuning. This spray-based approach offers a practical and robust solution for producing durable. antifouling fabrics that significantly enhance hygiene and food safety.
