Engineering Phase Formation and Crystal Growth in Vapor-Deposited Halide Perovskites

Vacuum-based deposition of halide perovskites has attracted increasing attention as a promising route toward large-area, scalable, and reproducible fabrication of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Despite these advantages, translating the high performance achieved in solution-processed PSCs to their vacuum-processed counterparts remains challenging, owing to fundamental differences in precursor states, processing environments, and crystallization kinetics. In this presentation, I will discuss our recent progress in phase formation and crystal growth engineering of vapor-deposited halide perovskites. We demonstrate vacuum-compatible trategies for forming wide-bandgap perovskite thin films (FA₁₋ₓCsₓPbI₃₋ᵧBrᵧ and CsPbI₃) with high optoelectronic quality. Comprehensive in situ and ex situ analyses are employed to elucidate phase evolution and crystal growth behavior during vapor deposition processes. Based on these approaches, high-performance wide-bandgap PSCs are successfully demonstrated.
