Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a sophisticated treatment that utilizes light energy to excite electrons, then transfers these electrons to molecular oxygen to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby eliminating cancer cells. In this study, organic semiconductor nanoparticles (OSNPs) were fabricated by introducing organic semiconductor materials into a nanoparticle matrix via the phase-separated film method. The conventional approach involves dissolving all components in a common solvent, evaporating it to form a phase-separated film, and then dispersing this film in water to produce nanoparticles. A modified fabrication strategy was applied to promote efficient electron transport between the organic semiconductor components within the nanoparticle. The OSNPs fabricated through this methodology demonstrated a five-fold increase in superoxide anion generation compared to those produced by traditional methods.
