Polymer films for triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) have received growing attention as self-powered energy harvesting devices that convert naturally occurring mechanical energy into electrical energy. However, most TENGs still rely on conventional non-degradable polymer films with limited recyclability, resulting in poor environmental compatibility. In this presentation, we will investigate the material design principles governing degradability and functional stability in biodegradable polymer films, focusing on polymer composition, structural integration, and degradation pathways. Based on this approach, we will demonstrate biodegradable polymer film-based TENGs that achieve stable electrical output and mechanical flexibility while enabling natural degradation after their operational lifetime. This study highlights the potential of biodegradable polymer film design for sustainable self-powered platforms.
