Organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) have become a widely explored platform in organic electronics owing to their solution-processability and compatibility with flexible, soft materials. Although OFETs have lower charge-carrier mobility than inorganic field-effect transistors, their advantages, including low-temperature processing, enable alternative applications, such as sensors and biomedical devices, where interfacial design and charge modulation are critical. Recently, neuromorphic devices have received increasing attention as an energy-efficient approach to emulate synaptic functions and parallel information processing. In this presentation, we demonstrate organic synaptic transistors with charge-modulating dielectric layers based on ionic molecular bridges formed between water-soluble polymer chains. The present concepts highlight how molecular-level design of ionic bridge networks can provide a versatile framework for neuromorphic organic electronics.
