Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have been extensively used in industrial and consumer products due to their exceptional thermal stability, chemical resistance, and surfactant properties. Conventional PFAS analysis relies primarily on liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS), which offers high sensitivity and selectivity but suffers from limitations such as high operational cost, complex sample pretreatment, long analysis time, and limited on-site applicability.
In this study, a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)-based electrochemical sensor was developed for the trace-level detection of PFAS. The proposed sensor demonstrated sensitive and reproducible current responses with a limit of detection reaching the low concentration range relevant to environmental monitoring. These results indicate that MIP-based electrochemical sensors can serve as a promising complementary analytical platform to LC–MS/MS.
