We demonstrate an electrochromic actuator architecture by integrating a thermoresponsive liquid crystal elastomer with laterally configured viologen-based ion gels. A transparent zinc-mesh joule-heating electrode was incorporated to efficiently convert electrical energy into thermal energy, enabling reversible and controllable contraction of the liquid crystal elastomer. Independently operated AgNW/PEDOT:PSS lateral electrodes allowed crosstalk-free RGB electrochromic switching within the same device. The integrated actuator maintained high optical transparency while simultaneously exhibiting muscle-like mechanical actuation and electrochromic color modulation. This electrochromic actuator represents a distinct device platform beyond conventional electrochromic systems, offering a practical route toward soft robotic skins, actuators with visual feedback, and adaptive wearable devices.
