Organic gas sensors based on poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) often suffer from limited sensitivity and selectivity. In this study, surface-modified activated carbon with various functional groups was incorporated into P3HT-based gas sensors to enhance sensing performance. The hybrid sensors exhibited improved sensitivity and selectivity toward target gases compared to pristine P3HT devices, which is attributed to increased adsorption sites and enhanced gas–surface interactions induced by the functionalized activated carbon. These results demonstrate that surface-modified activated carbon is an effective additive for high-performance organic gas sensors.
