High-voltage motors operating at 3.3 kV or above employ epoxy-resin-based insulation systems, including main wall insulation and overhang corona protection (OCP). The impregnation characteristics of these systems depend on the resin composition and curing behavior. During manufacturing, voids formed within the insulation cause localized electric field concentration under applied voltage, initiating partial discharge due to their lower dielectric strength. Such discharges accelerate insulation degradation under operating and environmental conditions, leading to void growth and reduced insulation performance. To reduce partial discharge, it is essential to use insulation materials with high dielectric strength, minimize void formation during the winding process, and ensure sufficient resin penetration during impregnation. In this study, a newly developed main wall and OCP insulation system was applied, and its effectiveness in reducing partial discharge was experimentally verified.
